Head of Swimming​​​​​​​

The British International School Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, qualified and experienced Head of Swimming to join a well-established and supportive Physical Education Team in a highly successful school.

About the Role:

As Head of Swimming you will be responsible for developing a stimulating curriculum of high-quality swimming classes which ensure that students of varying age and ability are able to make outstanding progress in this area. You will also be involved in establishing and delivering a programme of high quality extra-curricular swimming activities as well as leading the ongoing success of our swim teams.

The Head of Swimming will be responsible for managing the pool environment ensuring that strict health and safety standards are adhered to at all times and equipment is maintained to a high standard. You will ensure that pool-side staff maintain their qualifications as well as assist in developing their teaching and coaching skills.

Ideally, candidates will be located in the UAE.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • ASA/UKCC level 2 for Teaching Aquatics, ASA Level 2 Certificate for Coaching Swimming (swimming, synchronized swimming, diving or water polo), Level 2 Coach, UKCC Level 2 Certified, or an international equivalent.
  • Current lifesaving and first aid qualification

Ideal Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years teaching/coaching in a school environment
  • Ability to lead and develop a team
  • Experience of developing and leading a swimming curriculum as well as programme of extra-curricular activities
  • Experience of leading competitive swim squads
  • Able to plan and deliver a yearly calendar on internal and external swim meets.

Selection Process

Applicants should submit a CV, letter of application and the details of two professional referees, one of which should be your current Line Manager.

The closing date for application is 11th July 2020. However, we reserve the right to begin interviewing and make an appointment prior to the closing date.

Interviews will be conducted via videoconferencing.

Anticipated start date will be 23rd August 2020.
