We’re looking to recruit a Group Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, sat within Group Central Support, based in our London headquarters.  

The central support function consists of 150 professionals across Finance, Corporate Development, HR, Marketing, IT, Legal and Education, who each support the continued growth of our more than 75 schools in over 30 countries. ​​​​​​​Responsibilities include:

  • Knowledgeable and responsive to the business needs and wants, with the ability to adapt accounting policies, procedures and financial reporting systems as required.
  • Support the business with the acquisition and integration of new schools.
  • Work with the Senior Group Financial Reporting Manager and Regional Finance Directors to refine the consolidation process, reduce reliance on manual and inefficient processes and comply with the agreed internal key controls necessary to move to a controls-based audit.
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to provide clear and concise accounting advice on significant and unusual transactions.
  • Play an active and leading role in continuing to improve and automate the Group’s procedures around key accounting functions including, but not limited to, related parties, significant contracts, cash flow reporting, intercompany invoicing and revaluations, acquisitions, exceptional expense analyses etc.
  • Assist the Senior Group Financial Reporting Manager in ensuring compliance with the Group’s Significant Contract policy.
  • Support the Senior Group Financial Reporting Manager in ensuring the annual external audit is delivered within the agreed upon timeframe by taking responsibility for deliverables during the audit planning, fieldwork and completion phase.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a team, and a clear understanding of how assigned work responsibilities impact other processes and the work of other people, both within the immediate accounting team and wider finance team.
  • Work to maximize effectiveness of team members in the function while building for the future.


Essential skills and qualifications:

  • Degree in finance/accounting or related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Professional accounting qualifications (ACA or equivalent)
  • Strong academic performance at tertiary level in the relevant discipline
  • IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Risk identification, process improvement and internal controls development
  • Previous consolidation experience
  • Previous working experience in asset-light serviced based industries, high-growth industries and/or start-up firms (at-least 2 years)
  • Strong performer in previous role(s)
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills
  • Ability to challenge and influence management
  • Highly analytical
  • Good Excel skills
  • Ability to “think out of the box” and create from scratch
  • Experience in collaborating with stakeholders at all levels throughout an organisation
