About our school

NAS Dubai is a purpose built ‘flagship school’ generously resourced with an enrolment touching 2135. Our curriculum is based upon the legacy of the English National Curriculum adapted to the local environment leading up to GCSE and on to the IB Diploma programme, and  A Levels introduced this year. Our GCSE pass rate is a 100% overall pass with 48% A* and 97% of 5 or above and a 39.4-point IB average points score with 40% achieving more than 54% points and one with a perfect 45!

About the role

  • Be responsible to develop Individualized Healthcare plan (IHP) as per DHA requirements.
  • Advise parents to keep the student at home during the communicable period of any disease.
  • Assess, plan and implement Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP) and Emergency Health Care Plan (EHCP) for children with chronic illnesses and children with of determination, including allergies.
  • Maintain effective relationship with parents, families and local community.
  • Refer, as appropriate, children assessed and found to have psychological or emotional disorders like anorexia, self-harm, addiction, abuse etc.
  • Participate in planning and conducting health education activities in the school.
  • Act as a counsellor in guiding the school administrators, teachers and parents to discuss any health problem of a student, as required.
  • Submit reports to HRS and SHS, PHPD in a timely manner.
  • Update knowledge, skills and practice related to school health.
  • Draft the School Health Service Plan as per DHA guidelines and review it annually, which could include the following:
  • The delivery and evaluation of health services in school environment, including screenings and vaccination programs.
  • Comprehensive medical examination of students at KG/Foundation 1, Grade one (1), Grade four (4), Grade seven (7), Grade ten (10) and at entry level in colleges and universities and for new admission at any grade in schools. The findings have to be documented in the school health record.
  • Medication management 
  • Management of emergency reaction including anaphylaxis that might occur due to vaccination.
  • To report all suspected or confirmed cases of communicable diseases to SHS and Preventive Medicine Section (PMS), PHPD, DHA.
  • Ensuring the school is compliant with DHA/MOH regulations
  • Responsible for the health, hygiene and wellbeing of pupils and staff of the school
  • Ensure that pupils and parents adhere to, and are well informed of immunization programs as per Ministry of Health guidelines.
  • Coordinate with the concerned department in DHA to organise and provide the required immunization to prevent infectious diseases; refer to DHA Immunization guidelines school clinic requirements
  • Keep up to date with current medical practices and regulations, as per the Governmental authorities.
  • Ensures the school policies, procedures, and code of conduct are followed at all times and are compliant with DHA regulations
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessment and physical examination on students
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records of all students as regulated by the Ministry of Health
  • Develop a healthy system for children’s dietary intake, which takes into consideration the foods that are desirable to children, easy to prepare, and satisfy the nutritional needs of the children
  • Isolate children/staff suffering from contagious or infectious diseases
  • Conducting regular hygiene and health inspections for the school and documenting all the comments in records
  • Be available to pupils and staff to address their immediate medical needs, providing a source of medical advice
  • Manage and guide the school nurse so that they function optimally, in the best interest of the pupils, the staff and school. Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
  • Safeguarding: Abide by the school safeguarding policy and keep abreast of any change
  • Bringing to the immediate attention of the designated safeguarding lead and the Headteacher any significant pastoral matters, including safeguarding concerns

About you 

To be considered for this position, you must:

•            Degree of Bachelor of Medicine or its equivalent

•            CCT in General Practice

•            DHA License holder

•            5 years and above experience in Pediatrician, Family medicine and General Practitioner in the school environment

•            PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life support course certification)

•            Certifications as required by DHA

•            Understanding of working practices of a collaborative whole school clinic

This is a full-time position, starting from 1st February 2022. Remuneration is competitive and it includes visa provision.
