Job Description

College Alpin Beau Soleil is seeking to recruit a
Teacher of Music

Start date: September 2021 or January 2022

Our Philosophy

At Beau Soleil, we believe it’s what you do that counts. This philosophy holds true from the classroom to the boarding houses and well beyond, for both our students and for our staff. Whether you are teaching an IBDP class, or helping staff one of our amazing expeditions, we are a school that believes in the power of action, engagement and participation.

Students at Beau Soleil experience a unique, holistic education which is built around four core values: Respect, Responsibility, Ambition and Determination. These values underpin our educational and pastoral offer, providing a strong moral compass to our diverse, international community made up of students from nearly sixty countries around the world.

Beau Soleil currently offers curricular programmes in both English and French. Students follow the IB MYP, IBDP (English and French) or IB Courses. Students also participate in a world class programme of service learning, adventure and expeditions, designed to build their personal resilience, character and compassion.

College Beau Soleil is a member of the Nord Anglia Education group of schools which offers staff the opportunity to share in a worldwide network of schools, benefitting from the professional training opportunities of the world’s leading premium schools organisation.

Our Community

High quality teaching and learning lies at the heart of the ongoing development of the Beau Soleil educational experience. Our teachers are passionate about their subjects and work together to produce exceptional results. Creativity and innovation, energy and high expectations shape our approach. Professional development and training opportunities abound, and we believe in growing talent and supporting great teachers in their career paths.

Our pastoral team is devoted to the welfare of boarders. Every effort is made to ensure that students have access to the best services, emotional support and a warm family atmosphere whilst they are at school. All teachers play an important role as tutor in one of the five boarding houses, coaching students and supporting the boarding team.

Students and staff share a real sense of pride in the school and its achievements: a pride that we hope you will see if you visit us for interview.

Your Profile

At Beau Soleil, we believe that performing arts are the creative keys that can unlock student imagination and transform their education and this is an opportunity to build on a growing culture of performing arts within the school. As a full boarding community, this could take place either inside or outside of the timetabled curriculum.

Working within our Creative and Performing Arts team, you will be an inspirational practitioner and passionate musician, keen to share your passion with our students. This might take the form of a mini performance in a lesson by a junior class, to which you invite other teachers and tutors, a Juilliard-inspired improvised music performance bringing multiple classes together, an open mic lunchtime around the piano that sits in our café in the centre of school, or just sitting down and playing when you are passing. Our annual productions bring together drama, dance and music with an ever-increasing cast of eager and talented student performers. Regular concerts give students the chance to perform as individuals or in groups, and our school community always provides a supportive and appreciative audience.

You will join a dynamic and creative team benefiting from the collaboration between The Juilliard School, New York and the Nord Anglia Education network of schools. Through Nord Anglia, you will have opportunity to work on creative projects with colleagues from schools around the world and for professional development. You will enjoy working with a range of abilities, ages and nationalities and of course, have an infectious love of music and performing arts.

As a qualified teacher you will be a fluent English speaker, familiar with the IBDP curriculum and confident working with students from diverse backgrounds. You will be an excellent communicator and confident with technology; someone who gets on well with colleagues, students and parents.

Amongst other things, you’ll be well organised, have a good sense of humour and will want to participate fully in the extracurricular aspects of school life including the boarding house as well as the classroom. We have a comprehensive learning programme that includes Saturday morning academics and exciting challenges ranging from climbing 4000m peaks to night time ski racing

International Opportunities

In addition to being highly successful in its own right, College Alpin Beau Soleil is a member of the Nord Anglia Education family of premium international schools. This means you’ll be joining an international team in which thoughts and ideas are shared around the globe as we strive to make our schools the very best in the world. You will have the security and opportunities that come from being part of a high quality global organisation dedicated to education and professional development.

Salary and Benefits

In return for your passion to deliver the highest quality all-round boarding education you will enjoy a competitive salary, and places in the school for your children. You will also have the opportunity to live and work in the stunningly beautiful Swiss Alpine ski resort of Villars sur Ollon.

Here at College Alpin Beau Soleil, we are a close knit team who are proud of our school and boarding community. We educate 280 young people from nearly 60 countries, preparing them for futures as impactful global citizens. If you’d like to be a part of our on-going success, please get in touch; we’d love to hear from you.
