Head of Science

The British International School Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint an outstanding Head of Science to join a well-established, supportive team in a highly successful and expanding school.

About You

You will be a teacher who is passionate about their profession and seeks continuous improvement. You will have strong experience of the UK national curriculum; further experience of international education will be an added advantage.

The flexibility and open-mindedness required to adapt quickly to a fast-paced international environment are essential.

About the Role

Our school follows the English National Curriculum to IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme post-16.  The successful candidate will be able to inspire students of all ages and abilities. Classroom resources are plentiful and expectations are high for achievement for all students. Building and maintaining positive relationships with parents is essential and is a key part of maximising student progress.

Science is taught as a single subject in Key Stage 3 and as separate disciplines from Key Stage 4 upwards. The Head of Science will provide outstanding leadership for all teachers within the Department so that teaching and learning are consistently outstanding. He/she will focus strongly on developing an innovative and progressive curriculum which inspires and challenges students at all levels.  This will be supported by a vibrant programme of co-curricular and enrichment activities. The Head of Science will be accountable for curriculum and assessment and will lead the Department’s strategic development and self-evaluation processes.

Selection Process

Applicants should submit a CV, letter of application and the details of two professional referees, one of which should be your current Head Teacher/Principal.

The closing date for applications is 28th January 2021. Interviews will be conducted at the School or via Microsoft Teams. The start date is mid-August 2021.
